This workshop at GoggleWorks looks at how to make portraits of people, including strangers. Instructor Isa Brito, a street-portrait photographer based in New York, covers ways to get the picture you have in mind, how to earn someone's trust quickly and without words, and what to do when a shoot goes a different way than planned. Sessions also cover composition, lighting and depth of field.
You photograph between meetings and bring the results back for group discussion and feedback. Any camera works, as long as you can process and share your images at each session. If you shoot film, bring prints or email your files to the program staff before class. The group meets in the Darkroom, Studio 233, on the second floor. It is open to adults at all skill levels.
Wednesday evenings at GoggleWorks, 201 Washington St in Reading. Register through the GoggleWorks class page at https://goggleworks.org/classes/film-photography-portraits/. Registration closes five business days before the start date, and scholarships are available through GoggleWorks.
