About the camp
The Reading YMCA runs a full day summer camp for children ages 6 to 12 who have completed kindergarten. Camp days run Monday through Friday, from morning drop-off to late afternoon pickup, with time built in for active play instead of screens. Families who need a longer day can add wrap around care for an earlier drop-off in the morning or a later pickup in the late afternoon.
Each week follows its own theme built around fun and STEAM learning, with ideas that range from superheroes and space to nature explorers and science mysteries. Weeks also include a field trip and pool time. Staff are trained and background checked, and they focus on building confidence and friendships. Families get photos and updates from trips through the Class Dojo app.
Registration is online. Choose the YMCA branch your child will attend, then select the weeks you want, so you can plan around family vacations. Weeks fill on a first-come basis. All required forms from the Camp Handbook must be completed and returned at least one business day before your child attends. The handbook also covers what to wear, what to bring, what to leave at home, and trip details.
