About the season

The YMCA of Reading and Berks County runs basketball for boys and girls at every skill level. Younger players ages 4 to 6 start with a basics program that works on movement, coordination, dribbling, passing and shooting in a playful, pressure-free setting. From there, players move into a 1st and 2nd grade co-ed league and into boys and girls leagues for 3rd and 4th grade and 5th and 6th grade, where they build ball handling, shooting and defense, and pick up game strategy and teamwork.
Teams practice once a week on a weekday or weeknight at the sign-up location, and games are played on Saturdays. The Saturday morning basics sessions meet at Adamstown, Mifflin, Reading and Tri Valley, with Sinking Spring meeting Sundays in the late morning or early afternoon. Depending on registration, games may be held at any YMCA of Reading and Berks County location, no matter where your child signed up.
Equipment is provided and all experience levels are welcome, with trained coaches leading a safe, inclusive and non-competitive season. Schedules, team information and updates are shared through the Y Gametime app, so families should download it before the season starts. Sign up through the YMCA's youth basketball page.
