Aquatic Activities: 100-Mile Swim Challenge
In progress since Jan 1, through Dec 31 · Member $35.00, Non-Member $35.00 · Ages 8 and up

About the class
This year-long swim challenge asks you to log 100 miles in the pool at the Reading Y during open lap swim times. It suits anyone who wants low-impact exercise or a bit of friendly competition, and every stroke counts whether you swim freestyle daily or doggy-paddle a few times a week. Swimmers must be at least 8 years old at the start of the challenge.
Each time you swim, report your distance for that session to any lifeguard or Y staff on the pool deck so your official total can be tracked. To help you pace yourself, the Y notes that the pool is 25 yards long, one lap is 50 yards, and a mile works out to 1,760 yards or about 35 laps. T-shirts go to swimmers who reach the Y Loop mark of 48.1 miles, the distance spanning all five association branches, and to those who finish all 100 miles. Prizes go to the first person to finish the full distance and to the swimmer with the most miles at the end.
