About the workshop
This workshop from Spring Twp Parks & Recreation looks at how Early American households made light. You dip your own double wick candle from 100% beeswax using the traditional dripping method, working through the process step by step. You also make a 5 inch cinnamon scented display ornament, pressed from a stoneware cookie mold in the manner used by 16th century German Lebkuchen bakers. Mold designs vary.
During the session, interpreters in Colonial period dress give a short presentation on daily life in early America and on the history of candle making in the 18th century. All materials are supplied and no prior skills are needed, so beginners are welcome.
The program runs Sunday afternoons at the Township of Spring Administration Building, 2850 Windmill Rd, Sinking Spring. It is open to adults ages 18 and up.
