About the workshop
Stone tools are among the earliest tools people made. Stones such as flint, quartz and obsidian were used to build, garden, clean animal hides, make arrowheads and much more. An educator from Lancaster County Parks and Recreation leads this hands-on session in the process of stone toolmaking.
The workshop runs on a Saturday morning at the Township of Spring Fire Station in Sinking Spring and is part of the Family Nature Series, which is open to adults with and without children. It is suited to ages 8 and up.
Pre-registration is required, and each person who plans to attend must be registered individually. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian registered to attend with them. Check your email in the days before the program for updated information and directions to the facility. If you register and then cannot come, let the Parks and Recreation Office know so the spot can be filled. Sign up through the township's online registration system.
