Glencairn Museum is an art museum in the Pitcairn family's former castle home in Bryn Athyn, PA, with galleries on ancient Egypt, the Near East, Greece and Rome, medieval Europe, Asia, indigenous America and New Church art.
The 90-minute Highlights Tour walks the Great Hall, three galleries, the family chapel, the main bedroom and bath, and climbs the tower for the view, Tuesday to Friday at 2:45 PM and weekends at 1:15 and 2:30 PM; a $5 self-guided ticket covers the first floor. Parking is free across the Bryn Athyn Historic District. From November 27 the Christmas in the Castle tour and the World Nativities exhibition take over the house.
Before you go
Guided tours take up to 12 people and need reservations, so book online before the drive; the self-guided option covers only the first floor. Parking is free throughout the Bryn Athyn Historic District. Children in eighth grade and younger must stay with an adult. Some rooms are reached by a few stairs.
