Plan the day
Pocono Snake & Animal Farm is a small interactive zoo in East Stroudsburg, PA, where visitors feed and pet animals and see reptiles. The site says a visit takes about an hour.
The farm has been open more than 50 years and calls itself a starter zoo for children. You can bottle-feed goats and pot-belly pigs and drop treats to the bear, monkeys, lemurs, lizards and toads, with alligator feeding in summer. The reptile side holds rattlesnakes, a Gaboon viper, a reticulated python and a 90-pound alligator snapping turtle. Admission is $13 and the whole visit fits in an hour.
Before you go
Tickets are sold at the door only, and parking is free. The farm opens when it is in the upper 40s or warmer with no precipitation, so check the hours page before a late-season drive. Buy the $2.50 organic treats at the front counter to feed the animals. Closed Thanksgiving Day.
Coming up
