About the event
Educator Dan Jenkins leads an evening look at the animals that share Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, using camera footage captured on the property. As each clip plays, he walks the audience through the natural history of the animal on screen, from its habits and habitat to its place in the wider Pennsylvania landscape.
Hawk Mountain is best known as a raptor conservation center along the Kittatinny Ridge, where the sanctuary has long served as an international center for raptor conservation, education, observation and research across roughly 2,600 acres. The forest here also supports plenty of wildlife that rarely shows itself to hikers, which is where the cameras come in.
The program is part of the sanctuary's Autumn Lecture Series, a good fit for birders, families, and anyone curious about what moves through the woods of Berks County when no one is watching.
