Fall Lecture Series - The American Revolution in Pennsylvania

About the event
Historian Aaron Sullivan comes to the Daniel Boone Homestead for an afternoon talk on the American Revolution in Pennsylvania, part of the Daniel Boone Homestead Associates fall lecture series. His subject is a question that rarely makes it into the textbook version of the war: was it possible to sit out a violent revolution, and what happened to people when staying neutral stopped being an option?
Sullivan looks closely at the British military occupation of Philadelphia and at the many Americans who tried to get through the war without committing to either side, often at great cost. He teaches history at Rider University in New Jersey, holds a doctorate in history from Temple University, and wrote The Disaffected, which received the Book of the Year Award from the American Revolutionary Roundtable of Philadelphia.
The lecture series marks the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and this session takes place in the DeTurk Education Center on the Homestead grounds in Birdsboro. It is a good fit for anyone curious about how the Revolution played out close to home.
Hosted by Daniel Boone Homestead on BerksConnect.
