One United Church of Christ opens its doors in Kenhorst for a holiday craft bazaar, with vendor tables set up for anyone starting a gift list or just browsing for something handmade. A basket raffle runs alongside the vendors, and a white elephant section offers secondhand finds, with a bag sale in the final hour of the day.
The kitchen is a draw of its own. Church-made apple dumplings and candy head the menu, joined by homemade soup, barbeque, cakes, cookies, and an assortment of baked goods. You can make a morning of it, shop a while, and sit down to lunch before heading home.
Ten percent of the proceeds support Safe Berks, so the shopping and the soup both go toward a local cause. The church sits on New Holland Road with parking on site, making it an easy stop for Kenhorst and Shillington neighbors looking to get a head start on the season.
