About the event
Reading Coffee Company opens its bar in Birdsboro for an evening built around espresso, led by Beverage Director John Cappelletti. The session starts with a short talk on espresso as a brewing method, then moves into workflow and hands-on training on the shop's equipment, so you get time behind the bar rather than just watching a demonstration.
Much of the focus is on tasting and dialing in shots, with guidance you can carry back to your own setup at home. There is time set aside for questions, and participants go home with a few gifts. Nothing is required in the way of supplies, and tasting discard cups are on hand for anyone watching their caffeine intake.
It suits home baristas who want structured instruction, anyone who has an espresso machine sitting on the counter waiting to be understood, and curious coffee drinkers weighing whether a machine belongs in their kitchen. Because the workshop involves hot equipment, steam, and hot liquids, closed-toe shoes and practical clothing are recommended, and the instructor should be told about any allergies, sensitivities, or physical limitations beforehand.
