Becoming a New Client at Berks Counseling Center in Reading
Berks Counseling Center signs up new clients for its counseling, psychiatric and medical services through an admissions process that starts with a phone call to 610-373-4281 and finishes with a walk-in intake visit at its Reading office.
When you call BCC, the receptionist asks a few questions to better understand your needs and connects you with one of the center's specially trained Care Coordinators. Your Care Coordinator guides you through enrollment and helps determine which services best meet your needs or those of a loved one. Depending on your situation, they may connect you with a counselor, psychiatrist, physician, or other appropriate provider.

If you have private insurance, coverage verification may take up to two business days before an appointment can be scheduled.
Once your insurance has been verified, you may visit BCC to complete the intake process. Intake runs on a walk-in basis, and you will be asked for that same set of information again at the intake appointment. Some people are able to meet with a provider the same day as their intake, but same-day appointments are not guaranteed and there may be a wait between completing intake and seeing a provider, so plan your time accordingly.
Berks Counseling Center is at 645 Penn Street, 2nd Floor, Reading, PA 19601-3543, and the phone number is 610-373-4281. Hours are Monday through Thursday 8:00 am to 8:00 pm and Friday and Saturday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, with Sunday closed. Admissions are handled Monday through Friday only.
Payment options listed are Medicare with Medicaid, Medicaid, most commercial insurances and self-pay. What treatment costs and who qualifies are not stated, so ask when you call.
