Recovery and Peer Support From Berks Counseling Center in Reading
Berks Counseling Center in Reading pairs people with peer specialists who have been through their own recovery from substance use or mental health disorders and who help them stay engaged in recovery. Recovery Support Specialists assist people in becoming and staying engaged in the recovery process, and because they have navigated their own recovery journeys, they offer a message of hope and guidance toward living a substance-free lifestyle.
The center's Certified Peer Support Specialists are individuals in recovery from mental health disorders and work in many of the center's programs. They share hope, vision, and their personal recovery stories, openly discussing their own struggles and how they achieved recovery. They help people build and maintain positive support networks, become active community members, and build a sense of self-worth. Peer Specialists also work at the center's Decision Support Center, which encourages patient self-management and shared decision-making.
Recovery Support Services are offered in addition to treatment, so this is not a stand-alone service. The page does not say who qualifies or how to enroll, so ask when you call.
