24-Hour Hotline and Text Line for Abuse Survivors From Safe Berks

Safe Berks answers a hotline and text line at any hour for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Berks County. The hotline number is 1-844-789-SAFE (7233), and you can also text SAFE BERKS to 20121. It is answered 24 hours a day in English and Spanish, 365 days a year.

Services are for local survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. They are free and confidential.

Through the hotline Safe Berks can help you obtain emergency shelter from an abusive situation, counseling one-on-one for both adults and children, information and legal support, more information about domestic and sexual violence, and safety planning. Requests for shelter or medical advocacy go through the hotline and text line, so that is the place to start.

If you are in danger, escape the page and dial 911. Anyone in immediate danger should call 911.

For legal questions and concerns, call 610-373-1206, ext. 107, and leave a message. Messages are checked frequently by Legal Advocates, who will call clients back. For requests for counseling, or questions specific to counseling, call 610-373-1206, ext 606, and leave a message. Counselors check those messages frequently and call clients back.

Safe Berks staff works closely with all local hospitals and healthcare centers to provide medical advocacy and support for survivors 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For questions about medical advocacy, email MeghanB@SafeBerks.org.

The main office is at 255 Chestnut Street, Reading, PA 19602, phone 610-373-1206, open Monday through Friday 8:00AM until 4:30PM and closed on most major holidays. The Safe House phone is 844-789-7233 and is staffed 24/7.
