Best Insurance Agents in Berks County, PA
Fifteen Berks County agencies whose customers describe the same things: someone answers, explains the coverage, finds a better rate, and helps on a claim.

If you want the best insurance agents in Berks County, the fifteen offices below are the ones whose customers keep describing the same four things: somebody picks up the phone, explains what the coverage does, finds a better rate without thinning out the policy, and stays on the line when there's a claim. Every one is in business as of this week, and the whole field is on our Berks County insurance agents page. Nothing here is ranked or paid for. The ten with the most customer reviews are listed first as the quick answer; then all fifteen follow in full, in two groups: independent agencies that quote several insurance companies, and agents and agencies that belong to one company, each group starting in Wyomissing and Reading and working outward.
- Perfetto Insurance: fifty years in Berks County, and customers say it explains Medicare to the layman
- Spotts Insurance Group: one couple is saving hundreds of dollars on auto and home, and the team checks in through the year
- Trego Insurance Agency: customers call the switch the easiest they've done, and one saved over $500 every six months
- Reich Insurance: an Erie specialist serving Reading and its neighbors, where one family saved over $2,700 on the same coverage
- CrossKeys Insurance: you know your agent by name, and a Sunday claim had the car in the shop by Monday evening
- Gallen Insurance: a family-owned Shillington agency that took one customer from quote to policy in under fifteen minutes
- Blue Marsh Insurance: called a customer back before they got home from a 5 pm call, with offices in Fleetwood and Morgantown
- Brian Kilpatrick at Comparion Insurance Agency: shops several carriers, and had a home buyer ready to close in plenty of time
- Peter Shaw, GEICO Insurance Agent: the most-reviewed insurance office in the county, and it explains it step by step
- Sunshine Newton, State Farm: a Leesport team that walked a customer through a claim and saved another over $200 a month
Independent agencies first. Each of these says on its own site that it represents several insurance companies, so one office can quote you more than one carrier. Whether an office is independent or works for one company is a fact about how it's set up, not a grade, and our post on independent vs captive agents in Berks County explains when each one fits. Within each group the offices run from Wyomissing and Reading outward.
Perfetto Insurance, more than fifty years in Berks County and a knack for explaining Medicare.
Perfetto Insurance has been at it since 1971, more than fifty years, and its headquarters is at 40 Commerce Drive in Wyomissing. On our listing it shows up under its formal name, Chester Perfetto Agency. It's an independent agency that works "with multiple top-rated insurance companies, allowing us to compare coverage options and rates", and it writes auto, home, business, Medicare and health plans, life, and travel.
What stands out in the reviews is the Medicare help, a corner of insurance where most of us feel lost. One customer wrote that the agent "Speaks to the layman to help understand all the ins and outs of Medicare and other insurances as well." Another said, "She makes the process very easy and is thorough in her explanation of benefits and recommending the right fit for you." And a long-time customer: "I have used this company for many years and put my trust in their expertise and great service." If there's a Medicare question in the family alongside your own car and house, this office handles both.
Spotts Insurance Group, the Wyomissing agency that checks in with clients several times a year.
Spotts Insurance Group opened in August 1993, when Jeff Spotts started it. It describes itself as an independent agency, and Nationwide, which it has represented since it opened, is one of the companies it writes with. The main office is at 74 Commerce Drive in Wyomissing, with offices in Temple and Mertztown, and the agency is now part of Leavitt Group. The agency's site also says Nationwide named it an agency of the year for personal lines in its region in June 2026, and that it was picked as Berks County Living's People's Choice insurance agency.
The reviews are about money and follow-through. "Thanks to Christine my husband and I are saving hundreds of dollars on our auto insurance and home insurance," one customer wrote. Another described a fire claim where the agency stayed on it: "they had my back … claim was reopened … got full payment." And a client since the late 1990s wrote that "The team is proactive and communicate with clients multiple times a year." An agency that calls you before you call it catches a renewal increase before it lands.
Trego Insurance Agency, the Wyomissing office that makes switching easy.
Trego Insurance Agency sits at 1100 Berkshire Blvd in Wyomissing and writes policies across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and Michigan. It's an independent agency and a member of Keystone, a community of independent insurance agencies, and the list of insurance companies on its site runs past thirty, with Progressive, Travelers, Liberty Mutual, Donegal, Penn National, Cincinnati and Berkshire Hathaway GUARD among them. Trego also recently took on the customers of Insurance Offices Ltd.
The reviews are about how little work the switch was. "Trego could not have made it any easier to switch," one customer wrote. Another: "This process was so easy … it was practically all completed through email." The savings show up too. "This company saved us over $500 every six months," a review says, and another customer wrote, "Quick response. Saved me significant money on my policy." If you haven't shopped your renewal because it feels like a chore, this is the office people describe as taking the chore off your hands.
Reich Insurance, the Erie specialist that has served Reading for decades.
Reich Insurance describes itself as one of the oldest and most established agencies serving Reading and the towns around it, Mt. Penn, Exeter Township, Wyomissing, Sinking Spring, Oley and Birdsboro, and its office is now at 200 Spring Ridge Drive in Wyomissing. The site leads with "Specializing In Erie Insurance", and its companies page also lists AIG, Chubb, Foremost, Grange, Hagerty, J.C. Taylor and Lancaster Mutual, so Erie leads and there are others on the shelf.
Customers talk about speed and about the same coverage for less. "We saved over $2700 with the SAME coverage options from Erie," one wrote. Another had a claim: "Within literally minutes of calling Reich, they had claim personnel helping me navigate the process." A third described a policy change: "Over the phone, I added a coverage for water lines within 2 minutes. It was quick and easy." And the shortest line says the most: "My family has been insured with Reich for over 40 years."
CrossKeys Insurance, the Reading agency where you know your agent by name.
CrossKeys Insurance was founded in 1997 and is licensed in 12 states, with its main office at 5035 Pottsville Pike in Reading and a second office in Hamburg. It's an independent agency, and Erie is prominent on its site. "I appreciate the personal touch of knowing my agent and not just calling an 800 number," one customer wrote.
"I placed a claim on a Sunday afternoon, and Erie jumped right into action," a reviewer wrote. "My car was at the shop by Monday evening." On price, one customer said, "My rates dropped substantially, I even received more than I asked for coverage wise and at a significantly lower cost." And on the move itself: "CrossKeys made moving my insurance policy very easy." North of the city, the Hamburg office puts the same agency closer to home.
Gallen Insurance, the Shillington family agency since 1957.
Gallen Insurance has been in Shillington since 1957, at 2237 Lancaster Pike, and is family-owned and operated. In September 2023 it became part of McConkey Insurance & Benefits, a move its site describes as made "with a vision of maintaining a lasting local presence". It's independent ("We represent different insurance companies so we can offer you a variety of policies unique to you") and publishes plain explainers on its blog, on what moves home and auto rates and how credit scores affect premiums, several of them in Spanish.
One customer went "from quote to new policy in less than 15 minutes! My only regret is that I didn't do this sooner." Another "wound up saving us over $1500 a year with better coverage." A third: "I love that Gallen is a broker so they can write policies with multiple great carriers." And one more: "The cookies are a nice touch as well :)"
Blue Marsh Insurance, the Fleetwood agency that calls back before you get home.
Blue Marsh Insurance has two offices, 430 Park Road in Fleetwood and 3319 Main Street in Morgantown, and the Morgantown office has its own listing. Tom Davenport founded the agency to be "built on personal relationships and a local presence"; the family has called Berks County home since 2004. It's independent and "represents a carefully selected group of financially strong, reputable insurance companies." Blue Marsh also writes its own advice posts, on why a home insurance bill goes up and on whether to file a claim or pay out of pocket: "Before filing a claim, always reach out to your insurance advisor."
The reviews are about the phone. "I called just after 5 pm … before I got home, I received a call … at 9 am the next morning my phone was ringing," one customer wrote. Another compared quotes: "The quote I received was two thirds the amount of my former insurer for the same coverage." A third: "The transition from our current policies to Blue Marsh was painless." In Morgantown, one reviewer wrote, "I like that Blue Marsh can offer options rather than representing a single insurance company," and another said, "She answered all my questions and we got it done in about 20 mins."
Stubbs Insurance Associates, the Wernersville office customers have kept for forty years.
Stubbs Insurance Associates describes itself as "an independent insurance agency serving the area since 1984", from 301 Sportsman Rd in Wernersville. Its site puts the independent point plainly ("Unlike captive agents, we represent various insurance companies, allowing you to compare coverage options"), and the carriers shown on the site include Erie, Progressive, Foremost, Hagerty, American Modern and Lancaster Mutual.
What customers describe most is being walked through the policy. "Jeremy walked me through the entire insurance policy and all the different items," one wrote. "He shared what each option was and explained how it would be used." Another noted that "Some components were suggested to be added and some were suggested to be dropped as no longer necessary," which is the kind of review you want if your policy hasn't been looked at in years. On the money: "We insured four vehicles and are now saving thousands of dollars a year." On speed: "The quote process only took a few minutes and a day later we were covered." And on staying power: "Have done business with this agency for over 40 years."
DJI Insurance Agency, the Kutztown office that will sit down at your kitchen table.
DJI Insurance Agency is at 600 Noble St in Kutztown, open 9 to 5 Monday through Friday and weekends by appointment. It represents Countryway Insurance, Progressive and Erie, and the team has over 50 years of combined experience in the business. One of the team grew up on Savidge Farms in Mertztown and has been with DJI since 2006.
The reviews describe an office that comes to you. "Dave sat down at our home twice to go over the policies and revisions," one customer wrote. "They treat you like a person, not a number," said another. On coverage: "They provided better quality coverage for the same amount of money." On claims: "Fast and on top of things with claims." And on how long people stay: "Our family has been using DJI Insurance for over 30 years."
Snyder Insurance Agency, the Leesport agency that emailed a quote the same afternoon.
Snyder Insurance Agency has been a family-owned, independent agency in Berks County since 1935, at 1020 James Drive in Leesport; one long-time customer calls it "a third generation family business". Its bundling page says something you'd rather hear before you sign than after: "if savings are what you're after, this may not be the least expensive option." Bundling isn't always the cheapest route, and Snyder says so up front.
"I spoke to Bryce during lunch time … by 6 pm my Auto quote/home insurance were emailed!" one customer wrote. Another called the customer service excellent and noted that a person picks up when you call. And a long-time client wrote, "I've been with them for 23 years. Never had a hassle and great service."
Now the agents and agencies that belong to one company: three State Farm offices, a GEICO office, and one agency that's owned by Liberty Mutual and quotes several carriers. Every agent in Pennsylvania has to hold the same state license, whichever kind of office they work in. And the same four things show up in these reviews as in the ones above.
Brian Kilpatrick at Comparion Insurance Agency, a Wyomissing office that shops several carriers.
Brian Kilpatrick's Comparion office is at 2001 State Hill Rd in Wyomissing, just past the Berkshire Mall, and he's been in the industry over 12 years. Comparion calls itself an independent agency because it quotes several companies, but it's owned by one of them, Liberty Mutual, so we filed it here; when you call, you get quotes from several companies, the same as the group above. The company's own words: "Comparion is an independent insurance agency and comparison service that shops multiple carriers," and it "is owned and backed by Liberty Mutual Group." It says it's paid by commissions built into the premium and that most customers pay no separate broker fee.
The reviews cover price, patience and deadlines. "Our policy was thousands less than any other quote we got, WITH BETTER COVERAGE!" one customer wrote. Another: "He explained everything carefully and patiently if we did not understand." And for anyone buying a house on a schedule: "Brian sprang into action immediately for us…had us ready to close in plenty of time!"
Peter Shaw, GEICO Insurance Agent, the Wyomissing office that sits down and explains it step by step.
Peter Shaw's GEICO office at 2733 Papermill Rd in Wyomissing is the most-reviewed insurance office in the county by a wide margin. It's a GEICO office; the words "independently owned and operated by DNS Insurance Agency, LLC" on its page say who runs it. The page also says "Hablamos Español." Shaw served as a claims and risk management executive before opening the office. The office also shows up around the county with Berks Encore/Meals on Wheels, the Autism Society of Berks County and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The reviews describe an office that takes its time with you. "They sat down with me, explained everything step by step. They have a lot of knowledge," one customer wrote. Another: "Pete and Mya helped me bundle my home & auto and save quite a bit off my monthly bill." One reviewer wrote: "He has come to my office more than once (who does that? My agent does!)." And one review captures the waiting room: "They offered water, tea, and coffee. My kids came along and were offered to play basketball."
Drew Miller, State Farm, the Reading office with video appointments and staff who speak Spanish.
Drew Miller's State Farm office is at 225 Warren St Bypass in Reading and serves Reading, Wyomissing and West Reading. The site has a Spanish page, and reviews written in Spanish thank the Spanish-speaking staff. One of them: "Muy buena ayuda con los seguros. El representante que me ayudó se llama Efrén, me brindó un excelente servicio."
The rest of the reviews are about convenience. "Met with Drew through a video chat… super convenient since my husband and I are super busy," one customer wrote. Another: "He is prompt and calls you back when he tells he is going to." And on changes to a policy: "We were able to accomplish needed policy changes quickly and with no red tape hassles."
Sunshine Newton, State Farm, the Leesport office that asks how it can brighten your day.
Sunshine Newton's State Farm office at 5445 Pottsville Pike has "proudly called Leesport, PA home since April 2021." Sunshine has 19 years of State Farm experience, and the seven-person team brings more than 64 years of combined State Farm experience. The phone greeting made it into the reviews: "the catch phrase is 'Thank you for calling Sunshine State Farm, how can I brighten your day?'"
The reviews are about explanations and about the claim. "Sunshine's office took the time to explain all my coverage…in a way that's easy to understand," one customer wrote. Another: "She saved me over $200 a month!!!" And on the day it counts: "We had to file a claim and Laura walked us through every step of the way."
Tina Saracino, State Farm, the Birdsboro office that stays in touch through a claim.
Tina Saracino has been a State Farm agent in Birdsboro since 1999, at 6580 Perkiomen Ave, with five licensed insurance representatives in the office. The reviews are about what the office does when things go wrong.
"During a recent stretch of misfortunes, Tina's office was in constant contact with us, making sure we were ok and helping us navigate through the claims process," one customer wrote. Another was a long way from home: "By the time I drove to the auto glass place in Amarillo, Tina had all the paperwork done very long distance." A third: "I emailed Tina and she was on top of it in minutes!" And a client of more than twenty years wrote, "I have been a client for 20+ years and never once been disappointed".

How we picked the best insurance agents in Berks County.
We read the reviews on every active insurance agency listing in Berks County and kept the offices whose customers describe the things that matter: somebody answers the phone, somebody explains what the coverage does, the rate comes down without thinner coverage, and somebody helps with a claim. Among agencies with enough reviews to show a pattern, nearly every one gets praised for friendly service and most for quick answers; plain explanations and a better rate come up on many; help with a claim comes up on only about one agency in six, so an office whose reviews mention it earned extra weight here. We confirmed each office is open. Nothing is ranked or paid for, and the rest of the field is on our Berks County insurance agents page.
So pick two or three from the list, open the profiles, and ask each for a quote on the coverage you have now, or on the policy you're about to need. The state's own advice is to compare at least three companies, and an independent office can cover more than one of those in a single call. If you like the agent you have, ask them to quote it too; the point is three companies priced on the same coverage. Do it this week, before the renewal comes due.
Questions people ask about insurance agents in Berks County.
Does it cost more to buy insurance through an agent?
On a home or car policy you usually don't pay the agent anything directly. The agent is paid a commission by the insurance company, whether the agent is independent or works for one company, and the commission comes out of the insurer's side of the premium. Pennsylvania's rules let a producer add a fee to the commission for commercial business, disclosed in advance and in writing, and never for filling out an application; if any fee ever appears on a personal policy, it has to be on paper before it's charged.
How many insurance quotes should I get in Berks County?
At least three. That's the Pennsylvania Insurance Department's rule of thumb, and the reason it gives is simple: "No two companies are the same." An independent agency can quote several companies in one conversation, so two independent offices and one single-company agent can get you past three companies.
How do I check that an insurance agent is licensed in Pennsylvania?
Every agent in the state has to hold the same license, whether they sell for one company or several: an insurance producer license from the Pennsylvania Insurance Department. Producer is the state's word for an agent. The Department's Licensed Individual Search shows "the types of insurance they are authorized to offer and the companies they are authorized to work with", so you can look up an agent by name and see which companies stand behind the quote.
How do I switch car insurance without a gap?
Our advice: have the new policy in place before the old one ends. Your old insurer has to tell PennDOT when a policy is cancelled, but your new one isn't required to tell PennDOT that it started, so get the new policy in force first and then let the old one go. If PennDOT sends you a letter asking for proof of insurance, answer it with the new policy's details.
