Plan the day
The Penn Museum is the University of Pennsylvania's museum of archaeology and anthropology in Philadelphia, PA, just off the South Street Bridge and a short walk from 30th Street Station.
The museum's line is 'A million world wonders. 10,000 years of history': galleries on Africa, Asia under a 90-foot rotunda, Greece, Rome, the Middle East and Mexico and Central America, plus a Native North America gallery built with Indigenous consulting curators. While the Egypt Galleries are rebuilt, Ancient Egypt: From Discovery to Display keeps that collection on view, and the museum says the new Egypt Galleries open December 12.
Before you go
Tickets are dated; sales are final but staff can reschedule within a year. The Museum Garage entrance is on Convention Avenue just east of the museum, with fewer spaces during its renovation; Penn Park Garage (31st and Lower Walnut) and Chestnut 34 Garage take ParkMobile reservations.
