Celebrating Bruce Springsteen! The Power of People's Music!
September 12, 2026 · 1:00 PM · Reading Public Library, 100 N. 5th Street · All are invited

About the event
The Reading Public Library hosts an afternoon devoted to Bruce Springsteen and the tradition Woody Guthrie called people's music. Springsteen's birthday falls on September 23rd, and this gathering marks the occasion by looking at what his songs have meant to American music and the audiences who have sung along with them at his shows with the E Street Band.
Leading the program is doug morris, a West Chester University professor, guitarist and singer who performs and writes about people's music. He will play and sing Springsteen songs, share stories from Springsteen's history, and bring along images to go with them. Expect familiar titles in the mix, among them "Thunder Road," "The Promised Land," "Atlantic City," "The River," "Badlands," "Dancing in the Dark" and "Born to Run," with room for discussion of what the songs are about.
This is a come as you are event for longtime fans and for anyone curious about the music. Singing along is encouraged, so bring your voice and settle in for a couple of hours downtown.
