Thanksgiving lands in downtown Reading with a holiday buffet in the ballroom at DoubleTree by Hilton Reading, where tables are set for family groups large and small and live background music plays through the meal.
The chef-curated spread covers the classics and then keeps going. There is butternut squash bisque with toasted pepitas and Italian wedding soup, a cold table with an artisan cheese board and field greens, and a frittata station for anyone who likes a little breakfast with their holiday. Carvers work through turkey breast with pan gravy and New York strip with bordelaise, alongside roasted salmon, bread stuffing, cranberry-glazed yams, mashed potatoes, smoked cheddar mac and cheese, buttered corn, charred green beans, and rice pilaf. Dessert brings pumpkin and pecan pie, mini cheesecakes, mango mousse shooters, and an assortment of small sweets.
Parking is validated, large parties are welcome, and reservations are required through OpenTable. It is a straightforward way to enjoy the holiday meal in the city without spending the morning at the stove.
