West Reading Farmers' Market

About the event
The West Reading Farmers' Market brings together small-scale producers from within about fifty miles of the borough, every one of them hand picked. Vendors grow, raise, or make what they sell, so the tables fill with seasonal vegetables and fruit, pastured meats, poultry and eggs, cheeses, raw local honey, organic breads, artisan pastries and cookies, hand-made pasta and ravioli, olive oil, locally roasted coffee and blended teas, herbal tinctures and body products, fresh cut flowers, and locally fermented cider and beer.
This date falls on a second Sunday, when the market also makes room for local artisan crafters alongside the regular growers and food makers. Live music and free samples are part of the morning, and the market runs rain or shine, so a gray sky is no reason to change your plans.
The heart of it is conversation: asking a farmer how something was grown, tasting before you buy, and leaving with food you can trace back to the person who made it. SNAP is accepted at the market, and vegetable and mushroom growers accept Farmers' Market Nutrition Program checks.
Hosted by West Reading Borough on BerksConnect.
