About the event
The West Reading Farmers' Market sets up at West Reading Park & Pavilion on Sunday morning, bringing together growers and food makers from within 50 miles of the borough. It operates as a producer-only market, which means every vendor is a small-scale farmer or food business selling items they grew, raised, or made themselves.
Expect tables of seasonal vegetables and fruit, pastured meats, poultry and eggs, cheeses, raw local honey, organic breads, pastries and cookies, hand-made ravioli and pasta, olive oil, locally roasted coffee and blended teas, fresh cut flowers, herbal tinctures and body products, and locally fermented cider and beer. Live music and free samples are part of the morning, and vendors are happy to talk through how their food is grown and produced.
The market goes on rain or shine, so dress for the October weather and bring a bag or two. SNAP is accepted at the market, and the vegetable and mushroom growers accept Farmers' Market Nutrition Program checks. It is an easy stop for anyone who likes knowing where their food comes from and wants to shop close to home.
Hosted by West Reading Borough on BerksConnect.
