Free Home Weatherization for UGI Customers With Lower Incomes
The Low Income Usage Reduction Program, or LIURP, is a UGI Utilities program that provides energy saving improvements to qualifying households to help reduce their utility bills and usage. The work is done at no cost to qualifying UGI customers.
To qualify, you must have an active UGI residential gas heating or electric account with 12 consecutive billing periods, higher than average gas or electric usage within the past 12 months, and a gross annual income within 200% of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines. Under the 2025-2026 guidelines that means up to $31,920 a year for one person, $43,280 for two, $54,640 for three and $66,000 for a household of four, which works out to $5,500 a month. The limits rise by $11,360 a year for each additional person above eight. If you rent, you need written permission from your landlord to proceed. UGI encourages CAP and LIHEAP participants who meet the eligibility requirements to apply.

If you are approved, a LIURP Contractor contacts you to set up an appointment and conducts an in-home energy usage evaluation, then recommends weatherization measures. Once UGI Utilities approves the recommended measures, the contractor returns to your home to do the work and to go over ways to keep saving energy.
Depending on what the evaluation finds, the services and equipment may include insulation, air sealing, heating system repairs, a furnace clean, tune, and safety inspection, door and window caulking and weather stripping, carbon monoxide and smoke alarms, and possible refrigerator repair or replacement for electric customers only.
