Meet the Author - Jeannine A. Cook
Starts Fri, Nov 13, 7:00 PM · Free

About the class
Brandywine Community Library hosts an after hours author visit at the Sinking Spring Public Library. Jeannine A. Cook comes to talk about her book, Shut Up and Read: A Memoir from Harriett's Bookshop, and readers are welcome to come listen and ask questions.
The memoir follows Cook as she opens her dream bookshop in Philadelphia just before the Covid-19 pandemic. Harriett's Bookshop is named in honor of Harriet Tubman and is dedicated to celebrating women authors and artists, and it was forced to close its doors only weeks after opening. Raised by a blind librarian, Cook grew up understanding the power of books. Through memoir, journal entries, and imagined conversations with Harriet Tubman, she writes about purpose, the strength of community, and the power of stories.
The program is open to teens and adults, and the evening is free to attend. Contact the library for details on attending.
