The West Reading Recreation Commission turns the park and pavilion into a season favorite with a haunted house and a hayride running together on one October evening. Walk the darkened route through the haunted house, then climb aboard the wagon for a ride through the grounds as the night settles in.
Games are set up alongside the main attractions, so there is something to do between turns and a reason to linger a while. It is a short drive or walk for most of the neighborhood, with the park's open lawn and pavilion serving as the gathering point for families working their way from one activity to the next.
The event is sponsored by Discovery Federal Credit Union. Dress for an evening outdoors, since much of the fun happens under open sky.
