About the event
The Reading Public Museum heads out for a day trip built around American creativity, with the bus departing at 8:00 am from the museum on Museum Road. Two stops fill the itinerary, and lunch is included along the way.
First comes the American Treasure Tour Museum in Oaks, an enormous indoor collection of Americana housed in a former tire factory. Visitors ride a tram past antiques, pop culture keepsakes, preserved classic automobiles, and hundreds of mechanical music machines such as nickelodeons, band organs, and music boxes, along with dolls, dollhouses, model airplanes, and circus art.
The day continues in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts for A Nation of Artists. Presented with the Philadelphia Museum of Art and organized in conjunction with America's 250th anniversary, the exhibition looks at how artistic work in the United States has been shaped by creativity, exchange, expansion, conflict, and innovation. It also marks the reopening of PAFA's Historic Landmark Building, with galleries arranged around themes including Prosperity and Inequity, Internationalism, Western Expansion, Landscapes and Horizons, and Geometry and Modern Design.
Hosted by Reading Public Museum on BerksConnect.
