The World Ballet Company brings its production of The Nutcracker to the Santander Performing Arts Center, with a live orchestra playing Tchaikovsky's score. The staging features a cast of 40 dancers, more than 150 hand-sewn costumes, and hand-crafted sets built for the story's shifting worlds.

The ballet follows Marie on Christmas Eve as her Nutcracker comes to life and carries her into a dream of falling snow, a battle with mice, and the Kingdom of Sweets. It is a familiar holiday story told at full scale, and a good fit for families looking to make an evening of it downtown.

The touring company is based in Los Angeles and led by Sasha Gorskaya and Gulya Hartwick, and it makes a point of performing in cities with less access to ballet, introducing the art form to audiences seeing it for the first time. Its roster draws professional dancers from more than ten countries. Doors open at 6:00 PM.
