This theater class at the Yocum Institute for Arts Education is for adults 55 and up who have always wanted to act, whether you are walking into a rehearsal room for the first time or coming back to theater after a long break. No experience is needed.
The group reads and analyzes scripts, puts scenes on their feet, tries improvisation, works on monologues, and takes a turn at playwriting. Along the way you pick up the tools actors and playwrights use to build characters and tell a story. The setting is supportive and no pressure, with room to build confidence, stretch your imagination, and share your work with the others in the room. Bring your curiosity, a little courage, and a willingness to play. A member of the theater faculty leads the class.
Sessions run Monday mornings for ten weeks. Register through the Yocum Institute to hold your spot.
