Wyomissing's Movies in the Park series brings The Sandlot to the big screen outdoors at Berkshire Heights Playground. The story of a group of neighborhood kids, a dusty ball field, and one summer they never forget has stayed a favorite across generations, full of pickup games, bikes dropped in the grass, and friendships built between innings.
It is a good fit for a September evening with baseball's championship stretch approaching. Families can spread out on the lawn, and kids meeting the movie for the first time tend to get just as caught up in it as the parents who grew up quoting it.
Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and settle in early to find a comfortable spot before the screen lights up. The playground setting makes it an easy outing for younger kids, and the whole neighborhood is welcome.
