About the event
The Reading Royals host the Trenton Ironhawks at Santander Arena, and this one brings a new face to the ECHL schedule. Trenton begins play in the 2026-27 season following the relocation of the Utah Grizzlies franchise, with the team affiliated with the NHL's New York Islanders and based at CURE Insurance Arena. The Ironhawks name draws on Trenton's industrial roots, and with the club just up the turnpike, visits like this one give Berks County fans a nearby rival to get familiar with.
The night doubles as Slapshot's Halloween Party, the Royals' costume celebration on the eve of the holiday. Costumes are very much welcome, so families can head downtown straight from an afternoon of trick-or-treat plans and let the kids show off their outfits in the stands while Slapshot works the crowd.
Puck drop is at 7:00 PM on Friday, October 30. Expect the usual mix that makes a Royals Friday work for all ages: fast professional hockey, music and games between periods, and an arena a short walk from Penn Street restaurants if you want to make an evening of it.
